Vibe: personal growth, social justice, care for community, insightful, hopeful, compassion→action

From Abby, Glennon, & Amanda - Life is freaking hard. We are all doing hard things every single day – things like loving and losing; caring for children and parents; forging and ending friendships; battling addiction, illness, and loneliness; struggling in our jobs, our marriages, and our divorces; setting boundaries; and fighting for equality, purpose, freedom, joy, and peace. On We Can Do Hard Things, Glennon Doyle, author of UNTAMED; her wife Abby Wambach; and her sister Amanda Doyle do the only thing they’ve found that has ever made life easier: Drop the fake and talk honestly about the hard things including sex, gender, parenting, blended families, bodies, anxiety, addiction, justice, boundaries, fun, quitting, overwhelm . . . all of it. We laugh and cry and help each other carry the hard so we can all live a little bit lighter and braver, free-er, less alone.

Why we love them: dang, do Glennon, Abby, and Amanda get it. They somehow take all the things we might be feeling on the inside that might be freaking us out (like anxiety about or the heaviness of all that goes on in the world), help explain it so we can understand it, and then show us what we can do about it with what's within our power. They show us how to channel all the great pieces of us—our compassion, care, empathy, love—and do something with it. You're bound to feel better about everything that's running rampant in your mind and in a community of support with all of them. Contains explicit content at times.

Vibe: honest reflection, fostering emotional intelligence and community, social justice.

From Brené- I’ve spent over 20 years studying the emotions and experiences that bring meaning and purpose to our lives, and if there’s one thing I’ve learned it’s this: we are hardwired for connection, and connecting requires courage, vulnerability, and conversation. I want this to be a podcast that’s real, unpolished, honest, and reflects both the magic and the messiness of what it means to be human. Episodes will include conversations with the people who are teaching me, challenging me, confusing me, or maybe even ticking me off a little. I'll also have direct conversations with you about what I’m learning from new research, and we'll do some episodes dedicated to answering your questions. We don’t have to do life alone. We were never meant to.

Why we love Brené: We've consumed all the various mediums that Brené shares her work—from her TED talks, books, to podcasts & interviews—and we love the combination of her honest, human, emotional reactions alongside the understanding provided through evidence and research she's helped to pioneer. Whether it's with her sisters/team or a featured guest, she helps us explore, dive deep, and feel more at ease around topics that can quite honestly, make a lot of us riddled with anxiety and/or fear.  If you want to see big growth in yourself, her work is for you.

Vibe: inquisitive, challenging the status quo, fostering growth and emotional intelligence

From Dax and Monica- Hi, I’m Dax Shepard, and I love talking to people. I am endlessly fascinated by the messiness of being human, and I find people who are vulnerable and honest about their struggles and shortcomings to be incredibly sexy. I invite you to join me as I explore other people’s stories. We will celebrate, above all, the challenges and setbacks that ultimately lead to growth and betterment. What qualifies me for such an endeavor? More than a decade of sobriety, a degree in Anthropology and four years of improv training. I will attempt to discover human “truths” without any laboratory work, clinical trials or data collection. I will be, in the great tradition of 16th-century scientists, an Armchair Expert.

Why we love Dax & Monica: These two are like two peas in a pod—that aren't afraid to challenge each other or call one another out when needed (we <3 that level of integrity). With various styles of episodes interviewing experts in their respective fields, celebrities, or anonymous storytelling, this pod has lots to offer. Better understanding certain topics or issues in our current climate, seeing the humanness of cultural icons, getting into the nitty gritty of our beliefs and emotions, and making you laugh hysterically through the retelling of life experiences are just some of what this series has to offer. And the familial and friendly relationship between Dax and Monica is super freaking endearing.
