ALOK
Comedian, Poet, Public Speaker, Actor
An internationally acclaimed poet, comedian, public speaker, and actor, ALOK has a dynamic presence and thoughtfulness that takes seemingly complex subjects and presents them in a straightforward, palatable, and historically informed manner. In doing so, they confront head on one of the most basic matters of our human nature and reveal an underlying truth universal in all of us—if we treated every person, no matter how they identify or show up in this world, with more love and less hate/fear, with openmindedness/nonjudgment and less self-righteousness, we'd all benefit and each of us would be a lot happier.
ALOK's literary works include Beyond the Gender Binary, Femme in Public, and Your Wound, My Garden. They have performed at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, Netflix is a Joke Festival, and recently released their first comedy special BIOLOGY! They've appeared on screen in Complicated Order, The Trans List, and Absolute Dominion, as well as HBO's Sex Lives of College Girls, Sort Of and Random Acts of Flyness, Hulu's Planet Sex with Cara Delevigne, Netflix's Gender Agenda Comedy Special and Getting Curious with Jonathan Van Ness. ALOK has been honored y the ACLU of Southern California, the Coalition of Asian Pacifics in Entertainment, and was selected as the inaugural LGBTQ Scholar in Residence at the University of Pennsylvania.
