Writer, Minister, Poet, Storyteller, Changemaker

An award-winning writer, poet, minister, & author, Reverend Danté Stewart powerfully taps into the emotions and spirit of almost anyone who reads his work. He's a sought after writer on topics like justice, faith, love, & heartbreak—and his eloquence on these very topics are what drew us straight to him. His writings have appeared in The Atlantic, New York Times, Washington Post, TIME, ESPN, Oxford American, Andscape, MSNBC, CNN, NPR, and Sojourners—just to name a few. One of his essays written for ESPN is currently being developed as an ESPN documentary, on which he serves as a writer. He's the author of Shoutin' in the Fire: An American Epistle as well as the Substack The American Thread, which explores defining moments, hidden stories, and the ordinary lives that have shaped the fabric of a nation and contributed to the beauty and complexity of the American experience. His writings, poems, and books remind us to look at one another with compassion, love, care, and justice to promote a world in which we can all do better and function together with decency and thoughtfulness at front of mind.


He's been named by the Georgia Writers Association as the "Georgia Writer of the Year"; by the Center for American Progress as one of "22 Faith Leaders to Watch in 2022"; and by Religion News Service as one of "Ten Up-And-Coming Faith Influencers". He received his B.A. in Sociology from Clemson University and his M.T.S. from The Candler School of Theology at Emory University in Georgia.
